Testing--trying to add pictures!

Here's a try!!!!!This was our family picture from this year. Last year, we dressed up, so this year, we decided to go more casual and support our Buckeyes!

Wow, it sure has been a while.........

A lot sure has happened since Thanksgiving, but at the same time, it seems like it wasn't that long ago!
We had a wonderful Christmas! My parents and brother came out to celebrate with us. Brian had a looooong flight from Hartford, he was delayed about 6 hrs, but finally ended up in Columbus at about 11 pm on Dec 22.
Christmas Eve, we decided to let the kids exchange the gifts they bought for each other. Mill Valley, the girls' elementary school, had a Christmas Extravaganza (sp??). The kids went and purchased gifts for each other here--it was a win-win--as the proceeds went back to the school. It was so much fun to watch the kids get excited and in the spirit of giving. They were very gracious with each other and appreciated their brother and sisters thinking of them! We decided this is a tradition we will continue!
Christmas morning was lots of fun. The kids got waaaay too much as usual, but we developed the attitude of 'they're only young once.." and tried not to worry about it! Brooke and Cate's big gifts were their Nintendo Dss, Reagan got a babydoll stroller and Colt got a Police Coupe Car. The family gift this year was a Wii and boy does that get a lot of use!
Hopefully we'll be back sooner than later this time!
Thanks for reading!

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day started out very early! All the kids were up by 7:15! We had to ask them if they were confused and thought it was Christmas morning! Colt was the first to rise, as usually, then down came Caitlin and her friend Lucy, and then Reagan. Brooke was at another friends, sleeping over. We baked cinnamon rolls and watched the Macy's Day Parade and hung out in our pajamas until late morning.
At about 3:30, Carleton and I had a quick nap, we started to prepare dinner.
We made it easy on ourselves this year. We bought a ham and bought a lot of yummy goodies from the Schwan's man---great food, delivered right to your home!!
We ate at 5:00, which was our target time, we were happy that all the food was done. Carleton made his signature mustard to go with our ham, and with the ham, we had, broccoli casserole, mashed potatoes, rolls, cornbread (prepared by Brooke!). After Carleton, Brooke, and Cate cleaned up the kitchen, we cooked our apple pie!
After dinner, we gave the kids their Christmas pajamas and they picked names out of a hat. This is a tradition that we hope to continue throught the years to come! We put all the kids names in a hat and each one picked a name, they will then buy this sibling a present and give it to him/her on Christmas morning or eve, we haven't decided yet. The theory behind this was to get them to appreciate the gift of giving, so hopefully this is what happens. I wanted them to keep the identity of the sibling they chose a secret, but they all already know! Oh well!

Another Busy Saturday

Well, today proved to be a typical Saturday for us.
Carleton and Cate headed for a local church to help with the Angel Food Ministries that Carleton's team chose as a community service project. The church gets food in bulk and then sells it and the profit goes to support ministries at the church. The team helps to unload the truck and load the food into people's cars.
I took Brooke, Reagan, and Colt to the Y for Brooke's basketball game. Thank goodness for the childcare at the Y so I don't have to spend my time chasing kids, I can really enjoy the game. Brooke did a great job, scoring 3 baskets and she also had 3 take-aways.
After the game, the 4 of us headed to Walmart so we could get a gift for the birthday party that Brooke had to attend today (RIGHT during the Ohio State game---who does that??)
Then, we headed home to shower and get ready to go to our friend Tom and Amy's to watch the game. What a great game it was! We greatly enjoy watching Ohio State clobber Michigan!
We stayed until about 6 and are now home enjoying other games for the night!
Another busy Saturday...........until next week!

OHIO STATE GAME!

We enjoyed the OSU game today! We had a big crowd over and it was lots of fun. The kids played air hockey in the basement and listened to music while the adults enjoyed some wings, pizza and the game!
The only bummer was the SNOW! Yes, snow! I can't believe that we had flurries already. Some of the kids took advantage of it and ran outside to play! I didn't really stick to the ground, but it did stick to the glass table out back so they were able to make snowballs! I cannot believe winter is really here!
The week ahead looks busy as most of our weeks do. I'm gone Monday night as we have a 6th grade camp overnight. Carleton will be on his own for the night, taking all the kids to gymnastics so Reagan can participate in her class. Hopefully they're better for him than they were for me last week!
Tuesday, Brooke has basketball, Wednesday is church, Thursday is our small group (we're hosting this week) and Friday is lazy night---can't wait for that!

Day One of Blogging

Wow! I'm home with Brooke for the day and I've been wanting to set up a blog and I'm amazed at how quickly I was able to do it!! Now if I can just figure out how to post pictures and check this thing, we'll be doing great!

Brooke started getting sick last night at about 12:30 and then again at 2:00am. I decided to stay home with her since I assumed she'd still feel sick..............NOPE. Not sure what all the throwing up was about, but she's doing much better now. There seems to be a lot going around (isn't there always!) as many of our friend's kids have had similar issues. Mmmmmm. I'm just glad it isn't too bad since it may make its way through our house.

Cate is excited to have a friend over today. It is funny b/c Haley's (her friend) mom and I have known each other for about 8 years. We worked together at the middle school here and then when I moved to the intermediate school, we still kept in touch but didn't get together as often with the kids/families. In fact, Cate and Haley were at the same sitter for a few months when they were babies. Their personalities are EXACTLY the same, they are both the 'spitfires' of their families. They didn't end up in the same class, but somehow found each other on the playground and became instant friends. Cate was over at their house not too long ago and Carrie, Haley's mom, was kind of freaked in a way, saying they are SOOOO much alike--they even look alike with their haircuts and athletic bodies! Oh, I wish I knew how to post pictures so I could take some to show! I'll figure it out!!

Everyone else is doing well. Carleton and I are taking the day off tomorrow to hang out. We've been so busy that it seems as though we haven't had much time for just 'us' I guess it is good we still want to hang out with each other!!

I'm done for now. I'm curious as to whether or not this will post!

Have a great weekend everyone!
